Where data lives, how fresh it is, how systems integrate, how the platform scales, and how much legacy debt remains.

What dashboards are for, how non-technical users reach data, whether views fit roles, mobile access, and the role of generative AI.

The maturity scale

The AMS weighting rule
Each pillar is the arithmetic mean of its five answers. The headline score, however, is not a flat average — it is weighted according to where the organisation's real constraint lies, determined by the unweighted mean of all twenty answers.
Infrastructure-led weighting
Pillar 1 carries 40%; the remaining three carry 20% each.
Below this threshold, infrastructure is the binding constraint. Investment in analytics tooling or culture programmes cannot outrun the data foundation supporting them.
Culture-led weighting
Pillar 4 carries 40%; the remaining three carry 20% each.
Past this threshold, technology is rarely the limit. Adoption, literacy and executive intent decide whether the platform produces value.
Benchmarks and honesty about them
The comprehensive report compares your score against an industry cohort and a country cohort. Percentiles are estimated from each cohort's mean and standard deviation rather than from a rank within a finite sample.
Where a comparison draws on the AMS reference maturity model rather than observed BIPulse responses, the report says so in a footnote. We would rather label the basis of a number than imply a precision the data does not support.
